What to Expect From The Magical Side Of The DCEU

The DCEU is currently working on multiple Justice League Dark Spin-Offs which is very exciting for comic fans and DCEU fans in general. J.J.Abrams and his production company ‘Bad Robots’ will be producing these spinoffs for HBO Max. Currently there are 4 projects in development and one of them is expected to start filming this year!

Constantine

Last year Variety reported that Bad Robots Production were producing a ‘Constantine’ show for HBO Max. Later that year a casting grid for the project was sent out, which gave us interesting details about the DCEU reboot. It was revealed that Warner Bros were looking for a Black British actor in their late 20s to play Constantine and were planning to start filming in the second quarter of 2022 ( April 1 -June 30). Now production dates change all the time so we are not sure if the series will start filming next month but hopefully the show starts filming this year!

Madame X

HBO Max is also developing a ‘Madame Xanadu’ Project with J.J.Abrams and Bad Robots Production. Angela Robinson will be writing this series but he won't be directing it. Sadly this is the only info we have on the show but we can expect more details from DC later this year.

Zatanna

While the other JLD Spin-Offs are going to HBO Max, Zatanna will be heading straight to the big screens. Zatanna will have a big budget and the movie will be very big in terms of scale as it was removed from DC’s HBO Max slate. Oscar-winning Writer Emerald Fennell is currently writing the film while J.J.Abrams is once again producing it. No release date has been set yet but we can expect the movie to start filming this year as it was announced last year.

Justice League Dark Series

Last but not least, DC is also developing a Justice League Dark series for HBO Max. It looks like the show won't be starting production any time soon as DC’s main focus is on the spinoffs. A ‘Deadman’ project is rumored to be in development as well but so far we have no official confirmation from HBO Max.
